Kate is an award-winning Casting Director with a genuine love of people, a huge amount of energy and a reputation for being positive, straight-talking and always up for a challenge.
From discovering incredible real people in the most unexpected places to working with established actors and models, Kate casts for UK and global commercials, photography campaigns, film and television. She loves a challenge and gets a real buzz from the search — digging deeper, thinking creatively and finding exactly the right person for the brief.
For Kate, casting has always been about more than ticking boxes. She loves meeting people, hearing their stories and creating a relaxed, friendly casting room where people can be themselves. She’s equally happy working with a seasoned actor or someone who’s never stood in front of a camera before.
Away from casting, travel is her other great love. She’s happiest heading somewhere new, whether that’s riding a horse across the Patagonian plains, travelling solo around South America or planning the next adventure. That curiosity about people, places and life probably explains why she loves casting so much too.
After all these years, she still gets ridiculously excited when the right person walks into the room — and she can’t imagine doing anything else.

Kate & Lou fact: Lou’s real name is actually Kate. But in a company of two, having two Kates became mildly chaotic, so Kate Louise became Lou — and it stuck.
Lou co-founded Kate & Lou Casting with Kate Evans and brings warmth, humour, boundless curiosity and a healthy belief that most things are figureoutable to everything she does.
Now based in Scotland, Lou heads up the K&L Edinburgh office, opening the door to an even wider pool of talent across Scotland and the North, while continuing to cast projects throughout the UK and internationally.
What Lou loves most about casting is the people. She is endlessly fascinated by what makes someone who they are — the lives they’ve lived, the stories they carry and the particular spark that no one else can replicate. She has an instinct for seeing beyond the obvious and loves those brilliant, unpredictable moments when someone walks through the door and brings something nobody knew they were looking for.
Whether she’s casting actors, models or real people, Lou brings the same openness, imagination and wholehearted energy to every project. She believes the best work begins with creating an atmosphere where people feel comfortable enough to be fully themselves — because that’s often where the magic is.
And whatever the day throws at her, you can pretty much guarantee she’ll find the possibility in it — and something to laugh about.

With a background in contemporary dance, Ro joined Kate and Lou Casting in 2017, quickly becoming an integral member of the K&L family. Her positivity and attention to detail are exceptional and her natural creativity means she has fast become a fantastic Casting Director in her own right.
